The TAISI TEACHERS’ & ADMINISTRATORS’ CONFERENCE was held at TAJ Aquada Fort  Beach Resort & TAJ Holiday Village , GOA on Thursday – 4TH September 2008.

 

The conference started with Pre-Conference Sessions on “The Team Visit” – by Margaret Alvarez – Accreditation Officer – Council of International Schools (CIS). This workshop was designed for administrators, teachers, and school business managers who wish to be considered for membership of Visiting Teams for the first time, as well as for experienced visitors who wish to become familiar with the Seventh Edition of the accreditation guide.

 

The other interesting sessions that was a part of the conference were:

It’s all about style! A humorous look at a serious subject” by Henry Nicols. This session gave understanding of how our leadership style influences the dynamics of our school community that will allow us to laugh as we come to grips with the skills and talents needed to lead effectively in the 21st century.

Leadership Skills for Managing International Multicultural Schools in the Indian Context” by Dr. Bindu Hari – The International School, Bangalore. This session was useful in Identifying and developing leadership skills and embedding best practice systemically in a cross cultural context to ensure sustained growth and stability of international schools.

Using Multiple Intelligences Theory in the Classroom:  Effective pathways to achievement” by Susan Baum

AD/HD In The Classroom-Effective Teaching Strategies and Challenges” by Neena David

The PYP Journey” by Bill Fenton – IBO Asia Pacific Region

The Emotionally Intelligent School, Yea or Nay” – by Henry Nicols

Fundamentals of Financial Management in Schools – Fundamentals That Every Head & Aspiring Head Should Know” by Richard Tangye – Council of International Schools

Preparing for the Accreditation Journey by Margaret Alvarez – Council of International Schools

Differentiation or Bust: A road map for leaders” – by Susan Baum

“Conflict Resolution” by Dr. Bindu Hari – The International School, Bangalore. This session provided contextual anecdotes and situations as hands-on exercises to enable senior management team members mediate and resolve conflicts amongst the stake holders of a multicultural school community.

“Time Management for Leaders” by Henry Nicols. It is not just about 1,440 minutes in a day, but that is all you get!  The challenge is often how to get the most out of the finite minutes in a day, hours in a week or days in a month, not just for ourselves but for those we lead.  If you have ever said, there are not enough hours in a day, this session was for them!

The TAISI TEACHERS’ & ADMINISTRATORS’ CONFERENCE ON “NEW POSSIBILITIES – REINVENTING EDUATION TO ENGAGE WITH A WIDER AUDIENCE” was held AT SHERATON RAJPUTANA HOTEL, JAIPUR, RAJASTHAN from 25TH TO 27TH SEPTEMBER 2009
